3.17.20 - Latest Updates Related to Coronavirus
Tuesday, March 17, 2020
Dear People of St. John's-
Our church council met (online) last night and made the following decisions:
1) All Worship and Activities at the church are cancelled through Saturday, April 4 (at the earliest).
2) No Children's Easter Program (April 11). If we are able to gather for Maundy Thursday- no meal. If we are able to gather for Easter, no Easter breakfast.
3) I am working on creating some sort of facebook live worship/devotion that will happen at least once a week. (Details another day)
4) Updates and changes will be announced in these ways: phone message at church, facebook, constant contact, post communications on church building and updating the website (the fastest changes will be phone message, constant contact and facebook)
For people who do not use the internet - we are trying to compile a list so we can mail a communication/devotion to them each week. If you know someone like this - please let us know ASAP. Or if there is someone you normally check in on - perhaps you could be the one to share information when changes and updates are made?
5) Need something from the grocery store or pharmacy and you should stay in? We have members who are willing to pick up prescriptions or things at the grocery store for people who may need to stay home and do not have someone else to do this for them at this time Please contact Pastor Kristin or the church office and we will connect you to these people.
6) Pastoral Care: At this time most "visits" will be by phone. Feel free to reach out to Pastor Kristin or the office. We will be in and out of the office and available.
7) Your weekly offering helps support the church and there are bills that still need to be paid. Please keep up with your giving by dropping it in the mail or signing up for online giving (www.stjohnswestminster.org).
8) Most important- Remember God is with us. God has led God's people through many challenging times and God is with us now.
Listen to the experts. Wash your hands. Stay home as much as possible. Get outside to enjoy this beautiful day. Our efforts to social distance ourselves now will help keep people healthy and safe.
A podcast I was listening to yesterday with a Sports Psychologist said - "Limit your TV/news time to 2 trusted sources, 5-10 minutes, 2 times a day. Get the facts and an update and then turn it off. After 5-10 minutes it is opinion and fear based."
O God, Our Help in Ages Past
1 O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal home:
2 Under the shadow of your throne
your saints have dwelt secure;
sufficient is your arm alone,
and our defense is sure.
3 Before the hills in order stood
or earth received its frame,
from everlasting you are God,
to endless years the same.
4 A thousand ages in your sight
are like an evening gone,
short as the watch that ends the night
before the rising sun.
5 Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
bears all our years away;
they fly forgotten, as a dream
dies at the op'ning day.
6 O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
still be our guard while troubles last
and our eternal home.

God is with us.
